Terms and Condition

In making a booking, you, the hirer, enter into a contract between yourselves and Standish & Roberts, the owners, of Cartole Cottages.

Bookings

These are generally from Saturday to Saturday or Friday to Friday, depending on the cottage, in the main season but are flexible at other times. Short breaks are available outside school holidays. Telephone bookings are accepted and held for five days pending receipt of a deposit or full payment as appropriate. 
We cannot accept bookings by persons under 18 years of age. A deposit of 25% is required when making a booking with the balance to reach us at least 28 days before the start of your holiday. A receipt will be sent by return post or by email if booking on line. Your booking is not a contract until you have received a receipt from us. Once we have received your deposit you are responsible for full payment of the holiday. We therefore strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance.

Beds will be made up ready for your arrival, according to the number stated on the booking form.

Check in time is 16.00, Check out time is by 10.00.

Cancellation


If you cancel your holiday/booking for Cartole Cottages you must do so in writing.

We will endeavour, without prejudice to our right to the full rental, to re-let the cottage. If we do re-let we shall make a refund, based on the new letting price and less any expenses for advertising. We do urge you to take out the appropriate Holiday Cancellation Protection Insurance as a safeguard. Although we shall make every effort to re-let the cottage, you are legally responsible for payment of the full amount once your booking has been confirmed.

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and all Communicable Diseases

In a Pandemic it may become necessary for us to cancel your provisional booking on the grounds of public health as directed and advised by National or Local Governments. In such a circumstance we will endeavour to find suitable accommodation of a comparable quality at Cartole Cottages. If no suitable alternative is available at Cartole Cottages we will either cancel your booking and refund your deposit or defer the booking to a later date of your choice within the variable seasonal tariff of the original booking. In the event that the Government or local authority impose a restriction zone (Quarantine Zone or Localised Lockdown) that prevents Cartole Cottages from opening before the start of your booking we will refund the rental paid or by agreement with you defer the booking to a later date within twelve (12) months of the original date of the booking.

In the event that the Government impose a restriction zone (Quarantine Zone or Localised Lockdown) whilst you and your party are staying at Cartole Cottages and you are prevented from returning home you must follow the current advice of the Government and Local Health Authorities.

In a pandemic it may become necessary for you to cancel your booking because you or a member of your party or family have contracted a communicable disease. If you cancel your booking five (5) days or more before the start date of your booking we will defer your booking to an alternative date within twelve (12) months of the original booking. This will be subject to conformation that you or a member of your party has contracted a communicable disease and that Government or Health Authority has directed you and your party to isolate or quarantine yourselves until the infection has passed.

If you or a member of your family or party staying in the same cottage at Cartole Cottages falls ill with a communicable disease and you are asked to take a test you must do so. If the test is proved positive for a communicable disease you must follow Government Guidelines at the time. If you and your party are required to quarantine in the cottage you will be liable for additional rental charges after the end date of your original booking and all costs incurred by Cartole Cottages in respect of decontamination and loss of revenue.

Personal Property

We can accept no responsibility whatsoever for your vehicles or personal property during your stay.

Personal liability

We are not liable for death or injury to you, your family, your guests or pets, however caused, whilst at Cartole Cottages. You are responsible for your own safety and security and for the safety and security of any children or guests with you whilst at Cartole Cottages.

Pets


Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, please see tariff for charges, (maximum 2 dogs per cottage). All dogs must be healthy and have been regularly wormed and treated for fleas. We are unable to accept dogs under 1 year of age. Please bring your own dog beds feeding and drinking bowls and towels. Dogs must never be left unaccompanied in the cottage unless happy to be confined in their own crate. We reserve the right to enter your cottage if your dog is left unattended and uncrated or is causing a disturbance and place it in a secure cage or shed. Dogs are to be kept off all beds and furniture. Dogs are not required to be on a lead in the garden as long as they are under control of an adult and do not disturb the other guests. However dogs must be kept on a lead in the field when animals are present. Owners are responsible for cleaning up behind their dogs.

Damage to any part of our property or livestock caused by your pet will be chargeable.

Heating and Electricity

Electricity is included in the rental. Heating costs are included in the rental from mid September to mid May. Heating is available at other times for a small extra charge.

General

Some facilities may not be available throughout the winter months unless by arrangement. e.g. the trampoline. Please call us on 01503 220956 for details. We are constantly trying to make improvements at Cartole Cottages therefore the equipment and facilities may differ to that described in this website and other advertising. We are not liable for the provision of any services outside our control including the provision of internet access.

We ask you to leave your cottage clean and tidy and report any damage or malfunction of equipment, to us promptly. Any damage to the cottage, its contents and equipment, to be paid for by the hirer at the cost of repairing or replacing damaged items. The cottage is only for the number of people stated on our website. We reserve the right to enter your cottage during your absence for maintenance or emergency reasons.

We reserve the right to refuse entry to our cottages to anyone we deem unfit to take charge or to anyone who causes a nuisance to us or other guests.
If your cottage is unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control we will offer an alternative. If no acceptable arrangements cannot be made we will refund the full cost of the hire period. This is the limit of our liability.

Guests are expected to be responsible for the cottage, take good care of it and leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the holiday.  Should extra cleaning be required we reserve the right to impose an extra charge.

Fire

On arrival you and your party are expected to familiarise yourself with the fire information, which can be found hanging in your cottage and in the information folder within the cottage. You and your party must also note the position of the fire equipment in the cottage and the fire assembly point in the grounds.
You must not cover heaters or tamper with the smoke or heat detectors in the cottage in any way.

Candles or Tee lights are not to be used in the cottage.
